3 Trade Targets For Dallas Mavericks To Get Luka Doncic Help

The Dallas Mavericks look to be off to a good start this NBA season with a 4-2 record through their first six games. But, peeling back the layers of the team a little bit and you will find a team that isn’t performing nearly as well as their record would indicate.

Dallas has a -4.7 point differential per game this season, yet somehow has four victories. They were blown out by the Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks and it has been their defense that is the saving grace.

Dallas entered the season having seen their defensive rating worsen for six consecutive seasons. In the early going of the 2021-22 season, they have gotten things turned around on that end of the court. However, it has been their offense that has cratered.

Head coach Jason Kidd has to figure out a way to get this team’s offense on track. They are defying conventional wisdom with three of their four wins coming with 105 or fewer points scored. The four teams they have defeated have combined for only 10 wins thus far, with three of the four teams being .500 or worse.

A big issue for Dallas so far has been their 3-point shooting. They are making only 31.2 percent of their 3-point attempts thus far this season, which is 25th in the league. Luka Doncic has struggled to the tune of 23.8 percent and Kristaps Porzingis is at 23.5. Their free-agent signings, Reggie Bullock and Sterling Brown are at 31 and 15.4 percent respectively.

With Porzingis once again battling injuries, it is up to Doncic to carry the offensive load by himself. He has struggled with his efficiency thus far this season, so getting him some more help would be a good idea.

Here are three players the Dallas Mavericks should target to get Luka Doncic the help that he needs.
