Miami has started the season 6-1, matching their best start in franchise history for the fourth time, the last 6-1 start coming during the 2011-12 season when the Heat won the NBA Finals. There is no better team than the Miami Heat in the NBA right now and this is because of how good they have been defensively.

Erik Spoelstra’s team ranks 1st in the league in defensive rating, opponent’s field goal percentage (39.7%), defensive rebounding, and they have held four of their first seven opponents under 100 total points in the game. Their lone loss on the season came on the road in Indiana, a game in which the Heat lost in overtime.

Jimmy Butler has been fantastic for the Heat this season and with him being fully healthy for once, the 5x All-Star wing looks like a real MVP candidate.

Known for being an elite-level scorer off-the-dribble and one of the best defensive players in the league, Butler has continued to put everything together for the Miami Heat this season and is currently averaging 25.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals, and is shooting 51.3% from the floor.

Just because they are great defensively does not mean they are not good offensively either! The Heat are currently averaging 115.6 points per game, ranking them just behind the Charlotte Hornets (117.5 PPG) for the league-lead in scoring, and they are the only team in the NBA that currently has three players averaging 20-plus points per game.

Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Bam Adebayo are the Miami Heat’s three leading scorers all averaging over 20 points per game and with a 6x All-Star in Kyle Lowry doing his job on both ends of the floor as well, the Heat may very well be the most flawless team in the NBA right now.

The only way to beat them is to pray that they are having an off-night shooting the ball and even then, it is no guarantee that they will lose because of their ability to hold opponents under 100 points on offense.

The Miami Heat are the best team in the NBA right now and while it is early, they are the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. As long as they stay healthy, their chances to make it back to the NBA Finals remain high.
