Does this trade make sense for the Toronto Raptors?
Being in the final year of his contract and coming off a career year, Chris Boucher’s value is as high as it will likely be. Turning 29-years-old this season, Boucher is a player the Toronto Raptors should look to move on from, especially after Scottie Barnes’ start to his rookie season and Precious Achiuwa being a young player the Raptors are high on in their frontcourt.
Barnes, Achiuwa, Birch, and Siakam make up the Raptors frontcourt this season, leaving sporadic minutes for Chris Boucher, who was in the running for Sixth-Man of the Year last season. Toronto is in a weird situation right now as a franchise because while they have looked good at times this year, their upside as a team is limited.
Nobody knows what to expect from them night-in and night-out, which is why trading some guys away and gathering more future assets could be the way their front-office is leaning towards right now.
Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby make up a really strong-looking core that is only going to get better moving forward. Leveraging Chris Boucher to add another young player to this roster in the backcourt makes the Raptors better offensively and they actually need some backcourt help right now.

With Kyle Lowry gone and in Miami, VanVleet is the only productive guard they have, especially with Goran Dragic not being utilized and likely to be traded this season. Coby White could immediately become a key scoring threat for this team not just this year, but next year as well since he is under contract on his rookie deal through the 2022-23 season.
Trading away Chris Boucher and two second-round picks may seem like a little bit too much for a guy like Coby White, but the Toronto Raptors definitely get a lot of value from this deal with the Bulls. Maybe they will not target White this season, but Chris Boucher is definitely a player on the trade block in Toronto.
