Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?

Through his first two seasons in the league with the Chicago Bulls, Coby White has averaged 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and has shot 35.7% from three-point range, but his upside next to Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso is limited.

White is no longer a starter on this team, even when he returns from injury, and while they could opt to move LaVine to the small-forward position and DeRozan at the power-forward position to put White in the starting rotation, it definitely makes more sense for the Bulls to pursue a trade involving their young combo-guard.

Chris Boucher has grown into a really effective bench talent in this league and what he did last season cannot go unnoticed, even though he has not had the best start to the 2021-22 season.

Being able to finish 5th in the league in blocks per game last season coming off the bench is quite impressive and being able to score from anywhere on the court is an advantageous trait for Boucher against other frontcourt players in this league who do not have the best ability to guard opponents outside of the paint.

Seeing as the Bulls already use their big man as a “stretch player” out on the perimeter, Chris Boucher would fit right in with this team and would make them a better defensive team than they have already been this year.

Currently, Chicago ranks 5th in the league in net defensive rating and with another key frontcourt addition in Boucher, they would be able to sustain this level of success they have had so far.

Chris Boucher has been a part of two great organizations in the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors early on in his career, so he definitely knows a thing or two about winning. Chicago is in a position to win a lot of games this season, hence why the stretch big man could be of use to them.

Maybe they are a championship contender this year, maybe they are not, but one thing that is certain about Chris Boucher is that he would make this Bulls team better on both ends of the court. Coby White makes the Bulls better offensively and could provide a little more scoring than that of Boucher, but the Bulls desperately need another impactful frontcourt player right now.

Patrick Williams being out indefinitely means the Bulls are even thinner than they already were with Nikola Vucevic being their only impactful center, which is why a move for Chris Boucher this season definitely makes sense for the Bulls.
