Toronto Raptors Receive: G Coby White
Chicago Bulls Receive: F Chris Boucher, TOR 2023 2nd Round Pick, TOR 2026 2nd Round Pick
With Fred VanVleet, Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes, and others in the frontcourt, the Toronto Raptors definitely have a shot to surprise many around the league this year, especially after going 27-45 last season.
The Raptors have always been a great defensive team, which is one of Coby White’s weaknesses right now, but this is a team that could use an upgrade in their backcourt either in their starting unit or second-unit. Having the ability to play with or without the ball in his hands, White is the perfect complimentary guard next to VanVleet in the Raptors’ system offensively.
While they do have a 2020 first-round pick in Malachi Flynn in their backcourt already, Coby White could bring an extra level of scoring to this Raptors’ team that they currently do not have.
With the emergence of rookie Scottie Barnes and OG Anunoby taking the next step in his career, Chris Boucher could wind up being the “odd-man-out” in Toronto’s frontcourt.

After being a Sixth-Man of the Year candidate last year, it seems foolish to think the Raptors would trade Boucher given his value in their frontcourt, but his minutes have decreased this year and he is in the final year of his contract.
Set to become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the 2021-22 NBA season, the Raptors may be interested in talking about trades involving Boucher, especially if they can get a handful of future value in a trade.
Last season, Chris Boucher stepped into a big role for this Toronto Raptors team and finished the year averaging 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, and shooting 51.4% from the floor, 38.3% from three-point range. The Chicago Bulls need more frontcourt help around DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, which is why Boucher could wind up being a great fit on that team.
Not only does he give them a boost defensively off-the-bench due to his length and shot-blocking abilities, but Boucher can spread the floor and be an excellent backup option behind Nikola Vucevic on this team’s depth chart.

Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Zach LaVine have been holding things down in the Bulls’ backcourt to begin the season and even rookie Ayo Dosunmu has looked good at times, which is why Coby White’s overall value to this team may have taken a hit this offseason.
Trading White provides the Bulls with another key frontcourt talent and helps them continue to get better defensively, which is why this is a move we could see Chicago interested in.
