Does this trade make sense for the Chicago Bulls?

Trading Coby White could absolutely make sense for the Bulls, especially because of what they did with their offseason additions. Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso were two high-level acquisitions for the Bulls in the offseason and both guys have played really well alongside LaVIne, Vucevic and DeRozan so far this season.

Coby White seems like the “odd-man-out” in Chicago right now and as a result, it is not a terrible idea for the Bulls to look and leverage him now for value. Derrick Favors definitely brings a ton of value to this team because of what he does on the defensive end of the court.

While he is not much of an avid shot-blocker, Favors is a really strong, “bruiser-like” center that would pair well as a backup option behind Vucevic in this team’s depth chart. He could even play alongside him in some rotations due to his abilities to play the power forward position.

No matter where he has played, Derrick Favors has always been a strong rebounder in this league and while he is not much of a scorer in the low-post, he is extremely hard to stop in pick-and-roll situations as a roller. With Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine being great passers, Favors could be the recipient of a ton of lobs to the rim.

The addition of Derrick Favors gives the Bulls another frontcourt player, which they will need to be a true championship contender, and a player that can offer them multiple second-chance scoring opportunities every single game. This may be too much for the Bulls to pass up on value-wise, especially if they can get a 2023 first-round pick from OKC in this trade too.
