The Chicago Bulls are off to a great start in the 2021-22 campaign. They are 4-0, which is their best start since the Michael Jordan era in the 1996-97 season. Their newest additions are doing a lot of the heavy lifting, as the Bulls are looking to break back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.
Zach LaVine is leading the way with an efficient 25.5 points per game. DeMar DeRozan isn’t far behind, averaging 22.5 points per game himself. Nikola Vucevic and Lonzo Ball are both scoring 14.3 points as well.
All four of those players are averaging at least 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game as well, getting it done in every facet of the game. But, if there was one thing to take away from this early start, it is that the team could be too reliant on that quartet.
There are only two other Bulls, Alex Caruso, and Patrick Williams, averaging more than 16 minutes per game. They need to add depth otherwise they will run the risk of burning out well before the postseason gets here.

One player they could get some help from is Coby White. White is currently recovering from a shoulder operation and is expected back on the court in November. He would provide the team with another backcourt player capable of scoring some points and running the offense.
But, could he be used as a trade chip to add depth elsewhere? The team’s biggest acquisitions this offseason, Ball, Caruso, and DeRozan, all play in the backcourt or on the wing. They also selected point guard Ayo Dosunmu out of Illinois in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, so White could become expendable.
“I think Coby could get moved if they feel like they need a piece,” as one NBA executive predicted. “I like Coby. He’s a guy who needs to get to a situation where he can play.”

Coby White, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, may not find the playing time he needs to continue developing in Chicago with the Bulls. With all of the pieces they have acquired, they might be better off trading him to help balance out the roster.
Adding some more depth in the frontcourt at the power forward and center positions would make sense. Nikola Vucevic is the only player listed as a center that is currently in the rotation, as they downsize significantly when he is not in the game.
