Would this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?
The Oklahoma City Thunder are no stranger to trades. This is how they have gained their assets to date. It is unknown if Sam Presti is actively looking for another but they are still out there and this could be one to look for.
With the addition of Josh Giddey in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Thunder may have a backcourt of the future with him being the primary backcourt partner to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Oklahoma City could benefit from capitalizing on Luguentz Dort’s trade value to add a young wing talent.
Talen Horton-Tucker is a prospect that the Lakers have felt good about since he entered the NBA. He has improved coming off the bench for Los Angeles and would thrive in an extended role.
The Thunder could also continue to load up on draft picks but would not in this particular deal. There are no guarantees with the NBA Draft Lottery odds as Oklahoma City experienced recently, so landing a prospect and not playing the mystery box could be beneficial.
