Does this trade make sense for Philadelphia 76ers?
It is definitely a possibility that the Detroit Pistons could end up with Ben Simmons in a multi-team trade, but this return the Philadelphia 76ers get is definitely not what they have in mind for Simmons. Jerami Grant would be a great addition for the Sixers, but they really do not have a need for Josh Jackson and Cory Joseph.
Jackson is still a young wing that has yet to prove himself in this league given his draft position and Cory Joseph is nothing more than a serviceable veteran point guard.
With Tyrese Maxey expected to take a jump in his second season, the 76ers would not really need to utilize Joseph, hence why he and Jackson could wind up going elsewhere in this potential deal.
The return the Philadelphia 76ers can get in other trades around the league for Simmons is much more worthwhile, especially when you look at what the Timberwolves can offer up.

Their three-player package of D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jaden McDaniels definitely brings in a lot more value than the Pistons package and this is just one scenario from one of the other teams involved in trade talks centered around Simmons.
At this point with Ben Simmons holding out, the Philadelphia 76ers options are limited, but there is still no rush to get a deal done at this point. This trade does not really help the Sixers in any way as a contending team in the Eastern Conference, hence why this trade does not make sense for them.
