How This Trade Impacts Philadelphia 76er
This would likely fall short of what the Philadelphia 76ers are looking for in a package for Ben Simmons. Based on the packages that have been reported that they asked other teams for, this one isn’t close.
But, if they want to trade him they need to be more realistic. His value isn’t at its highest right now, so it is difficult to truly gauge what a fair trade package would be. Out of all of the ones that have been floated about, this one is solid.
Philadelphia is getting everything they should want in a Simmons return package. They are getting capable point guard replacements in Goran Dragic and Malachi Flynn. A young, potential All-Star in 24-year old OG Anunoby is also heading to Philadelphia. An unprotected 2022 first-round pick checks off the draft compensation box.
While not as big of a blockbuster deal as some would expect, this is a solid package for the 76ers. Their offensive potential rises with two point guards that can score the ball and are capable playmakers.

Their defense won’t lose as much as originally thought with the acquisition of Anunoby in the deal. The 2022 first-round pick would be a great bargaining chip for the team to use to swing another trade should they choose to take that route.
While there are a lot of positives to this deal, ultimately, the 76ers would likely decline. If they are going to trade Simmons in the Eastern Conference, let alone to a division rival in the Raptors, they are going to ask for a premium price.

That would likely mean the inclusion of Fred VanVleet or Pascal Siakam at a minimum to get them interested in a deal.
