3. New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are desperate for another star player. Zion Williamson’s camp is already putting some heat on the organization to make moves, as reports earlier this offseason emerged that they do not want him with the franchise any longer.

That is something David Griffin needs to change. He cannot afford to lose another superstar to trade demands as he did with Anthony Davis. Combined with Brandon Ingram, New Orleans has one of the best young duos in the NBA, but they need more to help take them over the top.

For all his quirks, Kyrie Irving would help them accomplish that. He would be a perfect fit for the team as an upgrade at the point guard position, something they were looking into this offseason being connected to Kyle Lowry.

Irving is a wizard with the ball in his hands whether it is creating for himself or his teammates. He can score from everywhere on the court and has excellent ball-handling skills. A lot of New Orleans Pelicans people would love to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers, but Irving would make for a great consolation prize.

The threats of retirement would certainly be something the New Orleans Pelicans would have to overcome. Going from Brooklyn to New Orleans isn’t likely to lessen those supposed retirement plans, so they would have to present something to Irving that would show they can be a sustained winner.
