Houston Rockets Receive: C Mo Bamba, G/F Terrence Ross
Orlando Magic Receive: G Eric Gordon, MIL 2023 1st Round Pick (via HOU), HOU 2024 2nd Round Pick
One under-the-radar team to keep an eye on in regards to trade talks with Eric Gordon is the Orlando Magic. They are in a similar situation as the Houston Rockets in terms of rebuilding, so the Magic may not want to take on Gordon’s big contract, but they could add some valuable draft capital.
Milwaukee’s 2023 first-round pick would be heading to Orlando, along with a future second-round pick. Not to mention, if Eric Gordon plays and performs well, the Magic could look to flip him again before the end of the season in order to acquire more draft picks.
Mo Bamba and Terrence Ross are two players the Magic will likely look to move at some point, especially since they each hold a handful of value on the open market.
Orlando could likely get more value for either of these two guys, so this trade with Houston may not be the best thing for them to do, but bringing in Bamba and Ross is definitely a solid move for the Rockets.

Mo Bamba is a young talent that would fit in nicely next to Christian Wood in the Rockets’ frontcourt and Terrence Ross could be an affordable, veteran player to help lead this young Houston roster.
Ross is only owed $24M over the next two seasons, compared to Eric Gordon being owed roughly $38M over the next two seasons, and Bamba is in the final year of his rookie deal, meaning that the Rockets would be able to make a decision on whether or not they want to keep him long-term.
In terms of return value for Eric Gordon, this is definitely the best deal the Rockets can try to pursue, but it is hard to imagine that the Magic would want to take on Gordon’s contract.

Getting a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick does have some value, but at the same time, Orlando could maybe get a first-round pick for each of these guys in separate trades.
