Houston Rockets Receive: G Luke Kennard, G Keon Johnson, LAC 2025 2nd Round Pick, DET 2025 2nd Round Pick (via LAC)
Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G Eric Gordon, HOU 2024 2nd Round Pick
It is definitely wishful thinking to assume that the Los Angeles Clippers can add another impact player to their roster given their cap situation, but the Clippers do have some contracts they can move, allowing them to bring in a player like Eric Gordon and his contract.
Marcus Morris Sr. ($15.6M), Luke Kennard ($12.7M), and Serge Ibaka ($9.7M) all have movable contracts, but Los Angeles may not want to trade any of them. Out of the three of these guys, they may be willing to discuss deals involving Kennard, but they did give him a four-year extension upon arrival last year.
The Clippers would have to give up a handful of value with both Kennard and Johnson in this trade, which is likely why they will not pursue Eric Gordon, but it is definitely an idea for them to consider in terms of adding another championship-caliber asset.
This is definitely a favorable trade for the Houston Rockets not only because they would add a young sharpshooter in Luke Kennard, but because the Rockets would get another first-round rookie talent in Keon Johnson.
Kennard may not be the most talented player from this year’s draft class, but Keon Johnson is one of the most athletic and has a lot of raw potential. With a young team like the Rockets, he could really thrive early on in his career.

Again, the Clippers are most likely not going to look to move either Luke Kennard or Keon Johnson, especially before the season begins, but if they do want to add a player like Eric Gordon and his contract, they do have the capability to do so.
