Does this trade make sense for Sacramento Kings?

Marvin Bagley III has been a solid frontcourt player next to Richaun Holmes for the Sacramento Kings, but he likely is going to be on the move at some point in the coming months.

Due to him liking social media posts suggesting he get out of Sacramento and the Kings likely to miss the playoffs again, it seems like it would be in the best interest of both the organization and Bagley to work out a move, but they will not just do so for no return.

D.J. Augustin and Danuel House Jr. are two players who can contribute to the Kings depth and bench, but overall, this is not the kind of return the Kings should want for Mavin Bagley.

The former No. 2 overall pick has played well when he has been on the court and his Per 36 Minutes numbers are impressive, so giving him up for an aging veteran and rotational player, plus a second-round pick is very minimal value.

Other teams around the league would surely be interested in trading for Bagley should he become available in trade talks, which is why this trade with Houston does not make much sense for Sacramento.

If they were to get a first-round pick and possibly a player like Keyon Martin Jr. or Jae’Sean Tate, then this trade would definitely make sense for the Kings, but Augustin and House do not get the job done.

It is not that they are bad players, but there is no reason for the Sacramento Kings to move a core piece of their roster for two players that will not be on their roster in two seasons. Moving Bagley is looking more and more likely to happen, but Sacramento needs to be able to get a first-round pick or first-round-like talent in return for him.
