How This Trade Impacts Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets put their Big 3 together last season when they acquired James Harden from the Houston Rockets. Houston was engaged in trade talks with the Philadelphia 76ers as well, and Ben Simmons was at the heart of those discussions. In this scenario, they now end up as teammates in Brooklyn.

There have been some light rumors about the Nets possibly moving on from Kyrie Irving if the right deal presented itself. This could be the right deal.

Simmons would be more than capable of running the offense if needed. Harden has shown that he can play point guard as well, as he initiated the offense a lot as the lead guard last season with Irving playing off the ball. Any offense is easier to run when you have someone as talented as Kevin Durant to throw the ball to as well.

Why the Nets would love this trade is because of the versatility that Simmons would bring. The team struggled in the playoffs last season at times matching up in the frontcourt. Jeff Green was playing a lot of minutes at the center spot with Blake Griffin. That would no longer be an issue with Simmons in the fold.

Simmons would help shore up the frontcourt along with veterans Green, James Johnson and LaMarcus Aldridge. The defense was the main concern for the Nets last season and Simmons would help solve that issue.

Brooklyn had the best offense that the NBA has ever seen last season, so they can outscore anyone. But, that left little room for error because one cold shooting night could result in a loss. Acquiring a player such as Simmons would give the team a little more room for error and take some of the pressure off.

This would be a big win for Brooklyn. Simmons is four years younger than Irving and would provide the team with a huge upgrade defensively. Are the 76ers as excited by this deal as the Nets would be?
