2. Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
If there is one area the Dallas Mavericks have to turn things around in, it is their defense. The Mavericks have struggled mightily in recent seasons to slow down opponent’s offensive attacks, as their defensive rating has worsened six consecutive years and counting.
For Dallas to get over the hump when it comes to the postseason, they need to play better defense. The postseason made it painfully obvious that they do not have the horsepower to outscore opponents consistently, such as the Brooklyn Nets.
Reggie Bullock and Sterling Brown are both solid options when it comes to helping improve the defense, but they need more. A player such as Rondae Hollis-Jefferson would help them improve as well.
Hollis-Jefferson offers very little offensively but is an excellent defensive player. He has the athleticism and skill set to defend every position across the board, depending on what the situation calls for.

The Arizona product is also a tenacious rebounder, giving Jason Kidd a defensive-minded player they desperately need. With how much offensive firepower they possess, a player such as Hollis-Jefferson is worth looking into.
