JJ Redick stays on the east coast

With his family being in the northeast and JJ Redick going to hold out on signing a new contract, it seems like he will be looking to sign with an Eastern Conference contender. This month on his podcast, Redick stated that he is in no rush to decide on his future and will not be attending training camp for a team.

At 37-years-old now and ready to retire soon, Redick really has nothing else to prove in the NBA and wants to have a shot at winning a championship. The Los Angeles Lakers seem like a viable choice on the west coast, but if JJ Redick wants to stay closer to home, then the 76ers, Nets, and Celtics all seem like possible destinations for him, with the Celtics making a lot of sense.

Boston’s bench has been terrible for years now, and while they added Josh Richardson, Al Horford, Enes Kanter, and Dennis Schroder this offseason, they are still limited on the amount of three-point shooters they have.

Of the players on their roster from last year, Payton Pritchard, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum are the only three players who shot above 37% from deep last season, and as a team, Boston really does not have any reliable three-point shooters on their bench.

Pritchard and Nesmith are two young shooters who should see expanded roles, but adding JJ Redick gives the Celtics another reliable shooting threat to utilize in their rotations off the bench.

JJ Redick has shot 41.5% from deep for his career, and he would be an excellent catch-and-shoot threat next to big-time scoring threats like Brown and Tatum.

The Celtics want to prove they are still a title contender, and this could very well be a “make-or-break” year for them, so while other teams like the Nets and 76ers in the Eastern Conference may have better shots to win a title, JJ Redick could wind up having the biggest role/impact in Boston should he opt to sign with them.
