Wesley Matthews is a player that can help bring a team depth or potentially add another piece to the backcourt. For the Toronto Raptors, he would have to help them get to the next level.
The Raptors franchise that has fallen over the last year and is looking to get back into contention in the Eastern Conference.
Keep in mind, the Raptors entered last season with high hopes but dealt with inconsistencies and struggles throughout the season. Fred VanVleet is locked up long-term and Pascal Siakam is the other franchise player on the roster.
Kyle Lowry is now a member of the Heat and this leaves a hole in the backcourt. This is not to say that Matthews is the missing piece in the lineup but he would provide a spark off the bench. Toronto is hoping that Scottie Barnes can come in and make an impact as a rookie.

If all goes right for the Raptors, they might be able to return to the postseason in the Eastern Conference. Matthews is a veteran that can help lead moving forward as they try to make that happen.
