Miami Heat
The Miami Heat are looking to add some depth to their roster as we head toward the end of the offseason. With training camp around the corner, the Heat currently has only 16 players listed on their roster. Some of those players are not likely to be on the opening night roster and others potentially landing two-way deals, they have multiple spots open for training camp invites.
It wouldn’t hurt the Heat to bring in a veteran such as Monta Ellis to see what he has got. Ellis has stated that he isn’t even looking for a contract at the moment, he just wants a chance to show an NBA team what he can still do.
Given the roster spots they have available, Miami should be open to the idea of bringing Ellis in and working him out. The team could use another scorer and if Ellis is in as good of shape as he says that he is, mentally and physically, he could provide that scoring spark.
Miami won’t have Victor Oladipo to begin the season as he recovers from another quadriceps surgery. The Heat already had a backcourt thin-on experience behind Kyle Lowry, so adding an experienced player like Ellis could be something they were considering to do already.

Without having to commit guaranteed money to him, the Heat should take a chance on Ellis this offseason and bring him in. It doesn’t hurt to take a free look at a player who has had some success in the league previously.
