Does this trade make sense for Dallas Mavericks?
Quite honestly, any deal the Dallas Mavericks can get involved with that would result in them moving Kristaps Porzingis is probably a deal they should consider.
While Porzingis is only 26-years-old and could still grow as a player, Porzingis’ knees are definitely a cause for concern and his durability really is not favorable to Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.
As we mentioned earlier, his contract is crippling to any team that has him too since he has not lived up to a $30M/year value in this league, which is why moving Kristaps Porzingis is favorable for the Mavericks in this deal.
Getting Myles Turner may be a questionable move since they have 3-4 other centers on their roster, but he would definitely be the most talented guy in their frontcourt, plus a key defender for them in the paint.

Myles Turner’s contract is favorable for Dallas and with Jeremy Lamb being in the final year of his deal, the Mavericks would have $10M to utilize next offseason to go towards a new contract or Luka Doncic’s increasing salary.
In terms of getting rid of Porzingis’ contract and freeing up some cap space moving forward, this trade definitely makes sense for the Dallas Mavericks, even if they do not get another All-Star-caliber player for the Latvian big man.

Myles Turner would be a good fit next to Doncic in pick-and-roll situations on offense and we all know what he can do defensively, as he would give Dallas a big edge in that department.
