Seeing as Portland does not have many assets, it seems like the only way they can try to add more talent around Damian Lillard is if they moved CJ McCollum.

Prior to injuring his foot last year, the 29-year-old guard was putting up All-Star-like numbers, so they may not be too quick to move him, but again, McCollum is the only other asset other than Lillard on Portland’s roster that they can move for another high-level/All-Star-like talent.

The same can be said for the Mavericks in regards to Kristaps Porzingis, but not many teams have been interested in him.

The Mavericks gauged trade interest in their big man all offseason long, but with over $100M remaining on his contract over the next three seasons, not many teams have been willing to invest assets into a trade to acquire Porzingis.

As for Myles Turner, he has seen his name come up a lot in trade rumors over the last few NBA seasons, but the Pacers have been unwilling to move him yet. The Mavericks do have a lot of big men on their roster, but they would almost definitely entertain the idea of adding him to their roster seeing as he is one of the best defensive big men in the league.

Portland gets a key big man to pair with Jusef Nurkic in their frontcourt, Indiana gets the other scorer and playmaker they want in their backcourt in CJ McCollum and the Mavericks would be adding two key talents in Myles Turner and Jeremy Lamb to their roster, so is there a trade to be had here?

This trade may seem too simple to actually be something that can happen, but let’s break down this deal from all team’s perspectives to see if it truly makes sense or if all three teams should ignore each other’s offers.
