Does this trade make sense for Memphis Grizzlies?
The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly interested in moving Dillon Brooks and/or Kyle Anderson “for the right price,” but this is certainly not the price they have Brooks listed at.
In order for the Grizzlies to move on from Dillon Brooks, they are going to have to get one or two players who can help them advance as a threat in the Western Conference immediately and Coby White does not do that for them.
Sure, White is a talented, young combo-guard in this league with a lot of upside, but the Grizzlies already have Ja Morant. He could possibly start at shooting guard when he returns from his offseason shoulder surgery, but Coby White is a liability at times defensively and really does not fit into Memphis’ system.
Having another ball-handler sounds great, but everything on offense for the Grizzlies needs to flow through Ja Morant in order for them to be successful. The second you bring in another young guard like Coby White to “compete” in a sense with Morant, things will start to decline for this franchise.

The Memphis Grizzlies are in a great spot as an organization right now with their young talent and core, which is why they should not be in a rush to make rash moves like this one. With an average age of just over 23-years-old, Memphis is one of the youngest teams in the league and they went 38-34 last season!
This team is only going to improve with time, which is why giving up Dillon Brooks in this trade package would be a big mistake.

At the least, they would have to receive a first-round pick instead of some second-round picks, but overall, Chicago does not have the immediate assets and talents that would be intriguing enough for Memphis to let go of Dillon Brooks.
