Why Atlanta Hawks Do This Trade
The Atlanta Hawks have made a variety of intriguing selections using the NBA Draft with Cam Reddish certainly being among them. So why would the team look to move him in a trade?
The main reasoning is that there is only so much money to go around after paying out contract extensions to key players. John Collins has already received a max deal and Clint Capela just received one of his own, all in addition to Trae Young’s supermax.
De’Andre Hunter projects as being the more cohesive fit alongside the Hawks’ key players of the two young main young wing options. Additionally, Atlanta already has Bogdan Bogdanovic and Kevin Huerter in the fold, too.
Landing a return for Reddish before he reaches restricted free agency could be a logical outcome for the Hawks to consider.

At some point, the Hawks appear primed to make a consolidation trade to add a star to pair with Trae Young. Reddish could be helpful in those efforts, but if a deal of that nature is not made, gaining a helpful draft asset in the 2022 NBA Draft could be the next best route.
