Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?

If the 76ers are to trade Ben Simmons, they should definitely demand to get a fair amount of value in return since he is An All-Star and All-NBA talent, but they really do need to come down on their asking price a little if they truly want to trade him because they are not going to be getting Damian Lillard nor Bradley Beal for him. 

A trade consisting of Derrick White and Dejounte Murray, two experienced, young players who can immediately help a contending team, may be the best deal they are going to get, which is why this trade could very well make sense for the Sixers IF they want to unload Simmons before the season begins. 

This could wind up being the case with Philadelphia as it pertains to Ben Simmons as well since there are reports that he could wind up holding out through training camp. The Ringer’s Paolo Ugetti reported, “…one scout I spoke to said they wouldn’t be surprised if Simmons considers not showing up to training camp if he hasn’t been traded.” 

The tension within this organization seems to be pretty high right now, which is not good seeing as their chances of winning a title are slim to begin with seeing as the Bucks, Nets and Heat are all also major contenders in the Eastern Conference. Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris are definitely two key talents on a championship team, but this team really needs their third talent to step up and Ben Simmons has not been able to do so.

Trading him for two secondary talents in Derrick White and Dejounte Murray could very well end up giving the Philadelphia 76ers that extra little bit of firepower they need offensively, while still being solid defensively. This is a really fair trade package for Ben Simmons, which is why the 76ers would be smart to make this trade with the Spurs.
