San Antonio Spurs Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Dejounte Murray, G Derrick White, SAS 2022 1st Round Pick (Unprotected), SAS 2024 1st Round Pick (Unprotected)

Over the last few months, the Philadelphia 76ers have been fielding calls and making calls to try and trade Ben Simmons, but their asking price is extremely high. They are wanting another superstar talent like Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal in return for Simmons, but it seems highly unlikely that any team is going to be willing to invest that much into the 76ers young big man.

Seeing as he is a 7-foot point guard, Ben Simmons is definitely a valuable player, but it is crazy to say that he is on the same level as someone like Beal or Lillard, especially since you could make a case that he is no even the second-best player on the 76ers roster right now!

This trade proposal from the San Antonio Spurs could very well be on the table and is likely the best offer the Sixers are going to see for Simmons this offseason. He is being deemed a “work-in-progress” right now and with the struggles he showed on the offensive-end of the floor all last season, very few teams in the league will be willing to give up a lot of assets to acquire him.

Dejounte Murray and Derrick White are two fairly young guards who are more than capable of being key contributors for a contending team like the 76ers.

Last season, Murray averaged 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 45.3% from the floor, making him a contributing point guard in many ways, and White averaged 15.4 points, 3.5 assists and shot 34.6% from three-point range, making him a solid contributor with Seth Curry at the shooting guard position.

The Spurs could easily look to build with these two guards for the future, but if they were able to get their hands on Ben Simmons, they could potentially tap into his full-potential and immediately make themselves relevant again. San Antonio has always been known to be a great developmental team, so maybe they could be the ones to finally change Simmons’ bad habits.

What happens with Philadelphia in regards to their young All-Star is going to be interesting as training camp inches closer, so could the Spurs actually be the team they look to trade Ben Simmons to? Let’s take a look at if this deal makes sense for both teams involved.
