Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G/F Dillon Brooks, G Sam Merrill (to be waived)
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: G Luke Kennard, G/F Terance Mann, LAC 2022 2nd Round Pick, LAC 2023 2nd Round Pick
With Dillon Brooks’ name coming up in NBA trade rumors, the first team that comes to mind that could be interested in him is the Los Angeles Clippers.
Coming off their first ever appearance in the Western Conference Finals, you may not think that the Clippers need to make a significant trade to add more talent, but a guy by the name of Kawhi Leonard is going to be out to begin the season.
Maybe you have heard of him, maybe you have not, but he is a pretty decent basketball player who happens to be the best player on this roster. With Kawhi rehabbing from a partially-torn ACL, this leaves Paul George and Reggie Jackson as their two primary facilitators, which may not align for the same level of success the Clippers had last season.
Los Angeles could really benefit from adding another high-level talent who could be their “sixth-man” for when Kawhi Leonard returns, which is why Dillon Brooks absolutely should be a trade target of theirs. His $23.6M contract over the next two seasons is extremely favorable to a team tight on cap space to begin with and at 25-years-old, he is only getting better as a real two-way threat on the wing.

As stated earlier, Memphis is only going to entertain the idea of trading Dillon Brooks though if they can get a ton in return and the Clippers really do not have many valuable assets to offer up. Terance Mann is a promising young talent who Los Angeles would prefer not to get rid of and Luke Kennard’s contract really is not too favorable.
The Clippers surprisingly gave him a four-year, $56M contract extension when they acquired him from the Pistons last season and he is owed the full amount of this new contract, with a team option being in the final year of this deal.

He is a sharpshooter on the wing, but Memphis probably would not want Kennard in return for Brooks seeing as they have Kyle Anderson, De’Anthony Melton, Desmond Bane and now both Ziaire Williams and Jarrett Culver as shooting guard/small-forward talents on their roster.
The Grizzlies are only going to trade Dillon Brooks if they can get an “irresistible offer” for him, which is something the Clippers cannot put together right now. However, this will not and should not stop the Clippers from looking to add more talent to their roster, potentially with Brooks in trade talks.
