Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers revamped their whole roster this offseason. There are only four players from last season’s team that remain; LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Talen Horton-Tucker and Marc Gasol.

Russell Westbrook headlines the newest additions to the team, as he was acquired in a trade with the Washington Wizards. Rob Pelinka then got to work in free agency, adding numerous veterans.

Kendrick Nunn signed a two-year, $10.3 million deal but every other contract that was agreed to was for the veteran’s minimum. Carmelo Anthony, Wayne Ellington, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza, Kent Bazemore and Malik Monk all signed veteran minimum deals to join the Lakers.

The Lakers have two roster spots they are looking to fill. They currently have 12 guaranteed contracts and will go into the season with 14 players on the roster, leaving the 15th spot for flexibility. One of the two open spots is expected to go to a backcourt player, and Monta Ellis could be of some interest.

The Lakers are looking for someone that can add a little punch to their backcourt and Ellis could still provide that. He has averaged 17.8 points per game in his career and latching on with a title-contending team would be a best-case scenario for the Mississippi native.
