Why New Orleans Pelicans Are The Best Landing Spot

The New Orleans Pelicans need to begin building the roster up around Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. With rumors swirling that Williamson’s family already wants him out of New Orleans, the team has to start winning ASAP.

Turning Josh Hart in a sign-and-trade into a player such as Buddy Hield would be a great move for New Orleans. One of the biggest areas of need coming into the offseason for the Pelicans was 3-point shooting.

New Orleans was 26th in 3-point percentage, 25th in 3-point attempts and 27th in 3-point makes during the 2020-21 season. Devonte’ Graham was one addition to help improve that number and Hield would further help improve the team’s 3-point shooting.

Hield is a 40.6 percent 3-point shooter in his career and he does it with volume. He made 4.0 3-pointers per game this past season on 10.2 attempts, which came out to 39.1 percent. That was tied for a career-low percentage.

Hield is an excellent offensive player, as the Sacramento Kings’ offensive rating dropped by 10.9 with Hield off the court. While he isn’t the strongest defender, his 116.3 defensive rating was better than the 116.5 the team registered as a whole.

The Oklahoma product could slide into the starting shooting guard spot, providing much-needed floor-spacing for Williamson to continue dominating in the paint.
