Would this trade make sense for the San Antonio Spurs?
The San Antonio Spurs are in a position that they have not been in over two decades. This is a team looking to retool the roster and get back to the postseason in the Western Conference.
After many years of excellence, the Spurs have to rely on their young talent in hopes of getting them back to where they want to be. DeMar DeRozan is no longer in the fold and San Antonio lacks an individual talent that stands out as a legitimate franchise-cornerstone.
The simple fact is that Thaddeus Young might not be a future piece for this team. If that is the case, it would benefit San Antonio to send him away for players that can help in the rotation. Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson or young pieces in the backcourt to build around. Adding Tyrell Terry into the mix could be an intriguing option.
They have experience from their time in Dallas and can come off the bench to create some depth with the Spurs. This is not a move that will get San Antonio back to the top of the conference but it is one to continue to add assets that can be helpful moving forward.
