Would this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
The Dallas Mavericks have turned into that postseason team and it is because Luka Doncic is one of the top players in the NBA. Moving forward, it is important to continue to build around him and get that balance on both ends. This includes young talent and veteran leadership.
The Mavericks have plenty of firepower. Tim Hardaway Jr. signed a free-agent deal to return to Dallas. He brings an important dynamic to the Mavericks on the offensive end of the floor as a facilitator, potentially as a short-roll threat when Doncic gets doubled.
Thaddeus Young is a veteran that would bring even more. This would check off some boxes for the Mavericks. His perimeter defensive ability is quite intriguing and would bring a needed dynamic to Dallas on that end and help take pressure off Kristaps Porzingis in a needed way.
The Mavericks could use that experience and help in the frontcourt. This is also a short-term option that would not put them in a hole moving forward.

The Western Conference is deep and that is not going to change. The Mavericks have a chance to remain in contention if some moves are made. This is not the big deal they could make, but it would be a benefit right away.
