Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors went big game hunting this offseason, but so far, they haven’t pulled anything off. The front office was hoping to turn some of their assets into another star to keep the championship window of their core consisting of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green open.

Instead, the Warriors ended up using both lottery picks they had in the 2021 NBA Draft, adding some depth to the roster. They should continue doing that and sign a player like Hamidou Diallo.

At this stage of the game, the Warriors are looking to fill specific needs. They need to add more depth on the wing that can get after it defensively and impact the game without needing the ball in their hands much in the way Diallo can.

Diallo would make a killing attacking the rim with Curry and Thompson drawing defenses out on the perimeter. He would give Steve Kerr another option to throw at the opposing team’s best offensive weapons on the perimeter to save Thompson for when it matters most. Right now, he has Andrew Wiggins and not much else when it comes to impactful defensive wings.

Diallo would also be afforded the chance to learn from Andre Iguodala. His role on the Warriors’ championship teams is something Diallo could grow into given how similar their skill sets are.
