Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks came into the offseason wanting to upgrade the roster around Luka Doncic. Making life easier for him was their No. 1 goal, so they wanted to add a secondary ball-handler that could play alongside him.
That has yet to be achieved. The Mavericks could opt to use Jalen Brunson more next to him, but that would leave the second unit without a ball handler to lead them. So, Dallas pivoted in a different direction.
Unable to add another ball-handler and playmaker, the Mavericks decided to upgrade the floor spacing around Doncic. Sterling Brown and Reggie Bullock were signed and both are excellent 3-point shooters. But, Dallas still has an overhanging issue with their defense, something Hamidou Diallo could help improve.
Diallo stands 6’5” with a 6’11” wingspan. He can lock down every position defensively on the perimeter, something the Mavericks could certainly use more of.

Offensively, his jump shot is still coming along. But, his ability to finish at the rim and his adept skill as a cutter would play nicely alongside a playmaker of Doncic’s caliber as well.
