3 teams who should take a chance on Hamidou Diallo in free agency

Hamidou Diallo

One of the more intriguing restricted free agents coming into the NBA offseason was Detroit Pistons wing player Hamidou Diallo. The 23-year old is oozing with potential and is someone that teams with strong developmental staff would love to get their hands on.

The former Kentucky product is athletically gifted, but he has yet to truly round out the rest of his game. There have been flashes and he has shown improvements, but to become a true difference-maker, there are a few things that he still has to work on.

Following the trade to the Pistons from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Diallo had an improvement in his 3-point shooting. He knocked down 39 percent of his 3-point attempts with Detroit after making only 26.2 percent with the Thunder. But, his overall efficiency dropped, as he made 48.1 percent of his shots in Oklahoma City and 46.8 percent in Detroit.

If that is a legitimate turnaround and Diallo has a reliable jump shot, he will be a steal for a team in free agency. He is already a strong defender given his combination of size and athleticism. His ability to get to the basket is above average as well and it would become even easier if he proves he can consistently knock down shots from the perimeter.

No matter where a team currently stands, Diallo could be a good fit. He can go to a rebuilding team and continue developing or help a contending team with his defense.

Detroit would certainly love to have him back in the fold. But, should he move on, here are three teams that should take a chance on him in free agency.
