Dallas Mavericks Receive: F TJ Warren, G Edmond Sumner

Indiana Pacers Receive: F Dorian Finney-Smith, F Maxi Kleber G Josh Green, 2022 second-round pick

If perimeter scoring is what the Dallas Mavericks are looking for, TJ Warren could be a productive option in a trade. He would be the centerpiece of this deal going back to Dallas, along with Edmond Sumner.

Adding Warren into the mix would give Luka Doncic even more firepower to work with beyond the arc with the Mavericks. Warren has improved significantly as a perimeter shooter to add to his already impressive ability to get downhill for finishes, short-range jumpers, and tough floaters.

Dorian Finney-Smith would lead the return going back to Indiana. He has turned into a valuable rotation player, which is what Indiana should be looking to load up on. Maxi Kleber and Josh Green, along with a second-round pick, would also be on the way to the Pacers.

Warren is set to play on an expiring contract but the appeal for the Mavericks would be to have his Bird Rights and be able to exceed the salary cap to re-sign him. With him being on an expiring deal and coming off a season-ending injury, it would reflect in his trade value.

The Mavericks will have a tough time adding outside talent next offseason with it being the start of Luka Doncic’s supermax extension. Making a move of this nature now would help to insulate Dallas from that situation by adding a key member to their core now.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around TJ Warren would benefit both the Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers.
