Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
The right pick in the NBA Draft process can change the trajectory of a franchise and the way in which it decides to build its roster. The Orlando Magic could experience such an outcome given they took Jalen Suggs with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
There is little reason to keep Cole Anthony around long-term now that Suggs is in the mix. It’s clear that Suggs has major potential and needs to have a team build around him that reflects that.
Jonathan Isaac is an intriguing fit next to Suggs, if he can stay healthy after multiple major knee injuries. Wendell Carter Jr. also showed some real flashes last season after being dealt to Orlando in the trade that sent Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls.
Gaining an additional future first round pick in exchange for Cole Anthony would be a logical move for the Magic to at least consider. There is now a size-able sample size for Orlando to operate with and if they feel as though Anthony has a long way to go, selling high on his value is justifiable.

There wouldn’t be much of an excitement factor to land Romeo Langford in a trade for the Magic. He would need to compete with Gary Harris, RJ Hampton, Terrence Ross, and, of course, Franz Wagner for playing time out on the wing.
