It has been a relatively quiet NBA free agency period for the Toronto Raptors. This makes one think that a big trade could be on the horizon. Masai Ujiri has to have a plan moving forward and it could be put into action at some point. The Boston Celtics could be the trade partner that fits best with the Raptors.

Toronto re-signed Gary Trent Jr. to a three-year, $54 million contract. This was a big move for the Raptors as Trent Jr. will return to the backcourt next to Fred VanVleet. Siakam has been viewed as one of  the centerpiece players but that could be coming to an end.

Siakam put up 21.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game this season. He is a focal point of the offense but carries great value in a trade. Also, the Raptors passed on a guard with the fourth pick in the draft in favor of Scottie Barnes. This draft  pick could have implications moving forward.

There have been a few teams linked to Siakam, especially the Sacramento Kings, but the Celtics could be a surprise team emerging. Boston has a need in a few areas. They signed Enes Kanter to a one-year deal this offseason and could be close to signing Dennis Schroder.

This would check a huge box for the Celtics. They could look to make another big move in the frontcourt. This is an area that has been in demand for two years in Boston.
