Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
The Magic were a team in a limbo phase this season. They earned a postseason spot in each of the last two seasons but were never considered championship contenders.
After the beginning of the season got away from them, Orlando decided to blow it up and send away their big names. After building a solid foundation of young players, the Magic could look for the next wave of stars.
If Simmons is on the list, they will have that chance this offseason. Fultz is expected to take another step if he returns healthy from a torn ACL. Landing Suggs at No. 5 in the draft is a move that can change the direction of a franchise. The Magic would have to have a plan for Simmons.
He is still an elite defender and can pass with the best in the league. With that being said, he is not a scorer and that does not seem like it is going to change. This is where a position change could come into play. The Magic would have the flexibility to play Simmons off the ball and use him in different ways.

Orlando is looking to improve their roster and add some more star power. If this is a deal they are comfortable with, there are plenty of assets to get it done and satisfy the needs of the Sixers a bit.
