3. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have had a quiet offseason thus far. They did not have a pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and have yet to sign a player to their 15-man roster. The only additions they have made were signing Nathan Knight and McKinley Wright IV to two-way deals.
Taurean Prince was also acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, along with a 2022 second-round pick and cash considerations. Ricky Rubio was sent to Cleveland in the deal, and that is as big of a reason as any that the Timberwolves should pursue Dejounte Murray this offseason.
Murray would help fill the void of Rubio’s departure. He would provide Minnesota with a point guard that is closer to the timeline that the rest of the team is on as well, as he is only turning 25 in September.
Murray would also provide Minnesota with a much-needed defensive presence. D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, Anthony Edwards are all offensive-minded players at this point, so balancing things out would be smart for the Timberwolves.

Trading Dejounte Murray would signal that the San Antonio Spurs are entering a bit of a rebuild. They could look to acquire one of the younger players buried on the depth chart, such as Jarret Culver or Josh Okogie in a deal. Prince and Beasley both have deals that would make the money work as well.
