Evan Fournier doesn’t return to the Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics didn’t waste any time making changes to their roster this offseason, trading Kemba Walker while the playoffs were still going on.

Following the trade of Walker, the main focus of the Celtics is to make sure they continue putting Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in the best position to succeed.

That starts with surrounding them with more talent, which could involve retaining Evan Fournier in free agency.

Fournier was traded to Boston before the NBA trade deadline this season and was efficient from deep, making 46.3 percent of his threes in 16 games with the team.

While the Celtics want to prioritize re-signing Fournier this offseason, other teams could view his performance in the Tokyo Olympics and with Boston this season as a reason why they believe he can be a key contributor for them.
