Los Angeles Clippers Receive: F DeMar DeRozan
San Antonio Spurs Receive: G Luke Kennard, C Ivica Zubac, G Patrick Beverley
DeMar DeRozan was allegedly unhappy with the situation in San Antonio. He ended up playing out the year where he earned $27.7 million after opting into his deal last offseason. DeRozan is set to become a free agent.
The Spurs have one final chance to get something for him and that is a sign-and-trade deal. The Clippers could be an intriguing trade partner in this deal. It would be necessary for Los Angeles to do a move of this nature in order to land DeRozan unless they were to sign him after Kawhi Leonard’s departure.
It does not appear as though Leonard will be departing in free agency. So in that case, the Clippers would need to execute a sign-and-trade to make the financial element work.
The Clippers could be that third star that is necessary for the team to take that next step in a difficult Western Conference. There is a real need to add another dynamic talent like DeRozan, especially while Leonard remains sidelined due to inury.

Let’s take a closer look and see how this NBA trade scenario centered around DeMar DeRozan would impact both the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs.
