Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Clippers?

The Western Conference is continuing to improve. The Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers were supposed to be near the top of the league but there have been some others stepping up. All of a sudden, the Suns and Utah Jazz are threats in the West and it is an even more difficult road over the course of the season for the Clippers.

Leonard has a chance to opt out of his contract this offseason. He might do so as a business move but there is no feeling that he will sign with another team. Leonard could just find a way to work out his contract and re-sign with the Clippers.

It is unlikely that Leonard persuaded the Clippers to add George for two years just to leave. The duo could become a trio with another veteran threat from the midrange. DeRozan is not a three-point shooter but can still get it done from midrange and in the lane.

He is another weapon that opposing defenses would have to worry about and that goes a long way against teams with other stars piled up in the rotation.

Los Angeles has been linked to some help at the point-guard position. This could be a priority heading into the offseason but if a deal for DeRozan presents itself, it would be hard to pass up. The Clippers are on a mission to win and should be willing to do whatever it takes.
