Ben Simmons – Philadelphia 76ers

The “Ben Simmons Sweepstakes” have been going on for weeks now and nobody has seemed to “crack the code” on what exactly the Philadelphia 76ers are looking for in exchange for Simmons. Since losing to the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Ben Simmons has been a focal point in offseason trade talks and the 76ers are “very open” to moving him, a source has told NBA Analysis Network. 

“The situation in Philadelphia regarding Simmons is not clear whatsoever right now because it is unknown what they are searching for. However, the Sixers have been receiving offers for the young All-Star and have also offered trades to a couple teams around the league involving him.”

While he is an All-Star and All-NBA player, Ben Simmons is now viewed as a liability league-wide because of his inability to be effective offensively in the postseason this past year. Reports surfaced a few weeks back about the Indiana Pacers offering Malcolm Brogdon and a first-round pick, presumably the 13th pick in this year’s draft, for Simmons, but the Philadelphia 76ers turned down this offer. 

Malcolm Brogdon is a terrific player at the guard position and a borderline All-Star talent, which means that the Sixers really want to receive an All-NBA or proven All-Star talent in return for their young “point guard.” Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report has mentioned the Kings, Pacers, Timberwolves, Cavaliers and Raptors as teams who have shown interest in Ben Simmons via trade, but again, they may not be willing to offer up the assets to acquire Simmons or have the assets to acquire him in general.

Given that he has been on the market for a while now and the Philadelphia 76ers are actively engaged in trade talks surrounding Ben Simmons, there is a possibility that he is moved before or during the 2021 NBA Draft.
