Golden State Warriors Receive: G Damian Lillard
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, C James Wiseman, MIN 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #7), GSW 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #14), GSW 2022 1st Round Pick (Unprotected), GSW 2023 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to POR), GSW 2025 1st Round Pick (Swap, More Favorable to POR)

Of course, you cannot talk about Warriors hypothetical trade scenarios involving their two draft picks this year without talking about Damian Lillard! The 6x All-NBA point guard is one of the best players in the entire league and could already have one foot out the door in Portland.

A week or so ago, Lillard addressed his recent trade rumors to the media in Las Vegas during his preparations with Team USA for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. “It’s not true,” Lillard said and then went on to state “I haven’t made any firm decision on what my future will be. So there’s really no need for anybody else to speak for me or report this or report that.”

Perhaps the biggest takeaway of Lillard talking to the media though was the fact that he stated “If you look at our team [Trail Blazers] as it is going into next season, I don’t see how you can say this is a championship team.” Damian Lillard wants to win and he wants to do so now while he is in the prime of his career, which is why leaving Portland seems like a very realistic possibility this offseason.

The Trail Blazers are in no situation to add more talent to their roster right now and with C.J. McCollum being their own valuable trade asset, they really do not have a means to add more All-Star talent to their roster to pair with Lillard. His best chances of winning are to request a trade and Golden State would be a prime landing spot for him.

Playing with Stephen Curry in the All-Star game made these two guys unstoppable next to one another and playing a full season next to each other, along with another sharpshooter in Klay Thompson being the third scoring option on this team, you might as well pencil inthe Warriors as being the best offensive team during the 2021-22 season!

There is virtually no way to stop Lillard and Curry on their own, so how is any team going to game plan to stop them both? Defensively, they would be taking a hit due to their overall lack of size, but offense wins games in today’s NBA and the Warriors would have one of the best offenses in NBA history with the addition of Dame.

They would have to give up a ton of assets in order to acquire Damian Lillard, but if he is available, Bob Myers and this Warriors front-office will definitely heavily pursue the potential MVP guard.
