Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
The Detroit Pistons have to have a plan moving forward. They have quickly turned into one of the worst teams in the league. On a positive note, this helped them land the top-overall pick in the upcoming draft and a chance to take Cade Cunningham.
Detroit already got rid of some veterans such as Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin. There isn’t a need to move on from Jerami Grant, but he could be next because of the value surrounding him as a player. His stock has never been higher and making a big swing could be ideal.
This NBA trade scenario all depends on how the Pistons view Simmons. They would be able to use him off-the-ball, which is a positive. He could form a truly dangerous two-man game with Cunningham between the size and passing ability both players possess.
Simmons showed that he cannot score the ball consistently and could focus on other aspects of his game. Simmons remains an elite perimeter defender and can fill up a stat sheet with rebounds and assists.

Cunningham would be the focal point of the Pistons but having Simmons at another position along the perimeter might not be the worst idea for Detroit. This would take them up a notch right away and give fans something to watch next season.
