New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are in desperate need of a point guard this offseason. They have been linked to every free agent point guard and whenever rumors perk up about a player that may be available in a trade, the Knicks are mentioned as well.
the Knicks have the assets to make a big move this offseason if there are players they are targeting. If those plans don’t work out and the Knicks have a ton of cap space again, they could look to take on Russell Westbrook.
Westbrook was someone the team had discussions about acquiring last season but ultimately passed. Matching salary would have been difficult and the Knicks rightfully didn’t want to surrender a future first-round pick.
Depending on what the compensation being asked for by Washington, Westbrook could be a good target this time around. His downhill, attacking style fits perfectly with what Tom Thibodeau wants from his point guards on offense. While he wouldn’t help the Knicks’ 3-point shooting woes, he would be a huge upgrade on Elfrid Payton, who was the team’s starter last season when they won 41 games.

Having a facilitator as good as Westbrook would help Julius Randle and RJ Barrett as well, as they were often put in difficult circumstances to score the ball.
