Won’t Break The Bank
While the New York Knicks have been mentioned as possible landing spots for superstars such as Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal, the asking prices for them would be astronomical. New York would have to gut their roster of all of their assets, whether it be young players or draft capital.
After what happened with Carmelo Anthony, that is likely a road the organization does not want to go down again. That is why targeting a player such as Myles Turner makes sense in the long run.
Turner would cost a fraction of the price compared to those two players. New York could offer some combination of Mitchell Robinson, Obi Toppin and Kevin Knox for Turner and include one of their two first-round picks this season. They have a lot of flexibility when it comes to trade packages they could offer.
The former Texas product is also locked into a very reasonable $18 million per season through 2023. Given the premium that teams are willing to pay for defense, that is a good price for a player of Turner’s caliber.

New York also has to consider what it might cost to retain Robinson once he enters restricted free agency. They may be better off flipping him for someone locked into a deal now than having to navigate those waters, especially if he continues improving the way he has through three seasons.
