Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
The Washington Wizards made a big run in the second half and surprised everyone as they landed a spot in the playoffs. They were eliminated in five games by the Philadelphia 76ers but they overachieved. The duo of Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook got hot in the second half of the schedule but this is not a long-term recipe for the Wizards.
When John Wall was sent away, it was assumed that Beal would not be too far behind him. Washington decided to hang onto Beal at the trade deadline but now, they could shop their all-star guard and see what kind of return they would get. Here, it would be some young talent along with immediate draft capital.
The Wizards currently hold the 15th pick in the NBA Draft. This is a deep class so they will still land a strong player but the seventh-overall pick can get them a potential franchise guy. This is what the team should be looking for.
Both James Wiseman and Eric Paschall have shown ability in the frontcourt and the Wizards are weak down low. There is a need for a more dynamic and long-term answer at the five spot and Wiseman would bring precisely that for Washington.

Wiggins is a former No. 1 overall pick that has been moved around a lot. He would join Westbrook and that would open things up a bit. Washington will have plenty of options if Beal is on the trading block so they will have to decide which would benefit them in the long run.
