Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
The Philadelphia 76ers have the luxury of shopping a max player this offseason. This means they all have plenty of deals to choose from and this is one that could be near the top of the list. Philadelphia is a win-now team and this deal helps them remain in that realm.
It is time that the 76ers fully commit to building around Joel Embiid. He put together an MVP-caliber season this year but struggled with injuries that took him out of the running. Philadelphia has a second star in Tobias Harris. He looked like the player that earned a huge contract from the Sixers this season.
The addition of Fred VanVleet and the fourth-overall pick would be huge. VanVleet would provide a needed pull-up shooting impact that Ben Simmons has proven to be entirely incapable of providing.
This NBA trade scenario would give them a chance to land a prospect like Jalen Suggs, Scottie Barnes, or Jonathan Kuminga. Having a talent of that caliber who is on a rookie contract would be a very helpful asset in the general team-building process going forward.

The 76ers are ready to win. It was a disappointing finish this year and they have to make sure they can get over that hump over the next few years.
