Does this trade make sense for the Toronto Raptors?
Ben Simmons would bring a bit of starpower back to the Toronto Raptors. With Kyle Lowry out of the picture, the Raptors could be looking for their next star at the top of the offense. The question remains, will they have a plan for Ben Simmons if he comes to town?
That is what all teams have to figure out, especially if they give up some of their top assets. VanVleet was assumed to be the next franchise player when his deal was signed. Here, it would be up to Simmons and Pascal Siakam to take over as the focal points.
Simmons struggled in the postseason but he still has great size at 6-foot-10 and can play any position on the floor. Simmons os an elite defender along the perimeter and has to improve putting the ball in the basket.
The Raptors have experienced a lot of success under Nick Nurse when he’s had a lot of athletic wing defenders to swarm within the half-court. By keeping OG Anunoby, Toronto would have no shortage of options to bring the best out of their scheme.

Taking on Simmons will be a risk for any team but they can make it work in the right system. If the Raptors believe he is a fit, we could see a move made very soon.
