Does this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
The benefit here for the Portland Trail Blazers is that Damian Lillard is worth a massive return. It seems unlikely that Portland will want to trade a Lillard on their own but that could change if he demands a trade.
It seems to be coming to that point and Portland will have to build around CJ McCollum, or just tear it all down entirely. The duo of Lillard and McCollum have been unable to take the Blazers to that championship level. It does not appear as though they will ever reach that point.
At this point, the Trail Blazers are struggling to get out of the first round and this could cause the front office to shake things up. Portland failed to get the job done against a Denver Nuggets team who was without Jamal Murray due to a season-ending injury.
The return in the draft would be huge. This is a very deep draft class and the Blazers would be able to add two of the top prospects. McCollum would get some help in the backcourt when Lillard is sent away and that is a main intrigue.

It is hard to get a Blazer fan excited about the idea of trading Damian Lillard. The front office might not have a choice if he wants out and it will all be about what they can get back in return.
